fitness trackers
Hi Sasha I am loving all of the sessions and even though I cannot join them live I am watching them all later. I am thinking of purchasing a fitness tracker to have a more accurate record of my sleep and fitness. Is there one that you would recommend?
I am also looking to download an app to track my macros, any suggestions for this?

Hi, Sandi Bowers I am so happy you are enjoying the sessions and that you are able to catch up on replays!
Great question- and my apologies for only getting back to you now- somehow I missed this post:(!
Yes, absolutely, getting a tracker could be super helpful-so happy you want to start collecting data!
Just a gentle reminder to be mindful that it is not very accurate when it comes to sleep, and definitely not reliable (like..almost at all) when it comes to "calculating" how much energy/calories you expended during the day.
As far as which to choose: I would say the Fitbit is a solid one (I used to have one, and it was awesome), and the Garmin brand is a good, reliable option.
However, to start with a more economical version could also be wise, as it might be all you need for the simple data you use to make certain adjustments, like leveling up your daily steps/activity and keeping and amping up the intensity of your cardio, for example.
I use a basic one from Amazon just to track my steps and heart rate, as I find those to be the most dependable metrics for a tracker; and honestly, it's all you need:)
It also tracks sleep, but again, it could be off.
There are many more options- and I am happy to offer more suggestions for fancier devices if you want:)
Whichever you choose, I would caution you not to worry if it shows your sleep being "off" and becomes a source of stress for that reason.
Always go by how you feel in the morning - and how you objectively feel you slept- and do not let it cause you worry:)!
Also, as with any tech, be aware of "glitches" (the watch can sometimes reset /pause and lose or restart step count - so you have to be aware of that:)
And to track macros/calories, I recommend My Fitness Pal (I used it for years, super user-friendly) and Fat Secret- both have a great free option, you can download both of them and see which feels best for you.
Let me know which tracker/app you end up getting and how it's going- I am so proud of you and always rooting for you, Sandi!
And if any other questions come up- bring them on.
Getting this new info about your lifestyle/health is going to be so good as you learn, adjust, and optimize to thrive according to our goals!
Keep going!
We are here for you.
