Care Option for Medavie Blue Cross Plan Members

What is the fee for Health Coaching and Clinician Care? 

The only costs you may incur are for:

• Prescriptions or supplements if included as part of your treatment plan (which may be covered by your benefit plan)
• Appointment cancellation fees if an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or 
• Optional visits with a Naturopathic Doctor if you choose to add one to your care team (see below).

Is the cost of the program covered by my Medavie Blue Cross benefits? 

Many Medavie Blue Cross plans include coverage under the Health Coaching and Chronic Disease Management benefit, often covering 80% or more. We’ll submit the claim for you, and you’ll just pay any remaining balance. Once you register, we’ll confirm your coverage and let you know.

You can also use a Health Spending Account (HSA) or Personal Wellness Account (PWA) toward the cost.

Please note: blood work, medications, supplements, Naturopathic Doctor visits, and other optional services aren’t included in the program fee, but may still be eligible for coverage through your benefit plan or HSA/PWA.

When do I pay for the program?

When you decide to proceed with Health Coaching and Clinician Care, payment is required at that time.

Can I add a Naturopathic Doctor to my care team?

Yes. Many clients choose to add a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) to expand their care options. An ND can work alongside your Nurse Practitioner when additional support is helpful beyond medical treatment - for example, diving deeper into guidance on nutrition and lifestyle changes, or focusing on prevention.

Most extended health benefit plans include some coverage for ND services. Your reimbursement will depend on your specific plan and how much of your annual coverage has already been used.

If you have a Health Spending Account (HSA), ND services are typically eligible for reimbursement as well, though coverage varies by plan.

Additional visits with a Naturopathic Doctor (30 minutes) are $180. We provide benefits-ready receipts for eligible services, which you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement.

Does the program include the cost of supplements and medications?

Your program fee covers the services in your care plan (appointments, coaching, and follow-up).

Supplements and prescription medications are not included and, if recommended, are purchased separately.

Depending on your benefits plan, some of these costs may be eligible for reimbursement. Coverage varies, we recommend confirming what’s included in your plan.

What if I need care beyond the NP scope of care?

If your care needs go beyond the Nurse Practitioner’s scope, your clinician will discuss the next best step with you. This may include a referral to an appropriate specialist or in-person provider.
