When do I do bloodwork?
Bloodwork is required before your first clinician appointment so they can review your results in advance and build your treatment plan during that visit.
Having your labs done ahead of time helps avoid needing an additional appointment just to review results.
Your Coach will guide you on what to complete and when. If your results aren’t available in time, we’ll reschedule your appointment so your visit can be as productive as possible.
Why is a specific bloodwork panel needed?
These tests give your clinician a fuller picture of your health, not just isolated symptoms.
They help assess:
- Thyroid and reproductive hormone balance
- Nutrient levels that support energy, bone health, and immune function
- Liver function and how your body processes medications
- Blood sugar balance and cardiovascular risk factors
This ensures your plan addresses underlying drivers of symptoms, not just surface concerns.
I already have bloodwork, can I use it?
Often, yes. If your bloodwork was completed within the past 3 months, upload your results to your Patient Portal and we’ll confirm whether it includes what we need.
If anything is missing and your provider can’t order the remaining tests, we may be able to issue a supplementary requisition for the missing items. Your Coach will guide you.
Can I use my GP for bloodwork?
Yes. If you can access labs through your family doctor or another provider, you can complete your labs that way.
We’ll share the required test list and guide you on timing so results are ready for your sanoMidLife clinician appointment.
If any tests on the list are missing, we’ll review next steps with you.
Can your clinicians order bloodwork?
Yes.
If you can’t access bloodwork through your family doctor or current provider, we can arrange it through sanoMidLife so your results are ready for your clinician appointment.
If any additional cost applies, we’ll confirm it with you before booking anything.
Do I need to upload my results?
If a sanoMidLife clinician ordered your bloodwork, we receive results directly from the lab, you don’t need to upload anything.
If another clinician ordered your bloodwork (for example, your GP), please upload your results to your portal so your clinician can review them before your appointment.
How do I have a successful lab visit?
A few tips to make your bloodwork appointment smooth:
- Book ahead if you can. Many labs let you schedule online, checking the lab’s website can save you time waiting.
- Bring your requisition and your provincial health card.
- Allow extra time, especially if you’re walking in without an appointment.
- Follow any fasting instructions, if required.
- Stay hydrated beforehand, unless you’ve been told not to.
