What is unique about my care options in British Columbia?
For individuals living in British Columbia, we offer two options for comprehensive clinical care. In BC, Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) can prescribe and provide a scope of care similar to that of a Nurse Practitioner (NP) for women’s midlife health.
Naturopathic Doctors in BC have one of the broadest scopes of practice in Canada, including expanded prescribing authority. This allows us to offer a coordinated ND-led care option that may work well within extended health benefit plans.
The best option for you will depend on your health needs and your benefit coverage. Because scope of practice varies by province, this model is currently specific to British Columbia.
What type of clinician is right for me?
The best option for you will depend on your health needs and your benefit coverage. Your Coach will help guide you toward the option that is the best fit for you.
What are the fees for the two care options?
What if I need care beyond the ND scope of care?
In BC, Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) can manage many midlife treatments, including hormone therapy when appropriate.
If your care requires treatment outside the ND’s scope, we may recommend involving a sanoMidLife Nurse Practitioner. This would require an additional appointment fee, and we will review this with you before proceeding.
If you have a Health Spending Account (HSA), Nurse Practitioner fees are eligible for reimbursement. HSAs vary by plan, so we recommend confirming what’s included in your benefits.
Your care remains coordinated. You won’t be left to figure that out on your own.
How does payment work?
- Care with a Nurse Practitioner is paid in advance.
- Care with a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) includes the Healthcare Coordination that is paid in advance, while ND appointment fees are billed on the day of your visit.
You’ll always know the cost before appointments are scheduled.
How does coverage and reimbursement work?
Most extended health benefits plans include some coverage for Naturopathic Doctor (ND) services. Your reimbursement depends on your specific plan and how much of your annual coverage you’ve already used.
If you have a Health Spending Account (HSA), Nurse Practitioner (NP) fees are often eligible for reimbursement. HSAs vary by plan, we recommend confirming what’s included.
How reimbursement works:
- We provide benefits ready receipts for eligible services
- You submit receipts to your insurer for reimbursement
Direct billing varies by insurer and plan. We’re working to expand direct billing options where requirements allow.
Will I receive a bill later?
No surprises.
There are no unexpected invoices. If additional appointments are recommended, you’ll see the cost before booking.
Does the program include the cost of supplements and medications?
Your program fee covers the services in your care plan (appointments, coaching, and follow-up).
Supplements and prescription medications are not included and, if recommended, are purchased separately.
Depending on your benefits plan, some of these costs may be eligible for reimbursement. Coverage varies, we recommend confirming what’s included in your plan.
